Joanne W. Young is Managing Partner of Kirstein & Young PLLC. She represents domestic and international airlines, aviation companies, airports, investors, and other clients in commercial, federal regulatory, election-law, legislative, arbitration, and litigation matters before U.S. Government agencies, Congress, and the courts.
Her practice includes aviation and transportation regulation; election-law counseling and litigation; commercial transactions; antitrust and competition; international privacy and data issues; government contracts; agency enforcement; consumer protection; legislative strategy; arbitration; and litigation. Her aviation work includes route proceedings, codeshare agreements and alliances, ownership and control, aircraft and airport transactions, charters, airport grants and compliance, aviation security, and DOT and FAA matters.
Ms. Young has testified before congressional committees on aviation matters including aircraft-noise regulation, codesharing, and the sale of operating slots at U.S. airports. She has held leadership roles in major aviation and legal organizations, including the International Aviation Women’s Association, the International Aviation Club, the Washington Foreign Law Society, and the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. She serves on the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Industry Advisory Board and has published the Washington Aviation Summary since 1984.
Ms. Young is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and Wesleyan University. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.
